"To reclaim your nature, you must honor it. You must trust it. And perhaps most importantly: you must surrender to it. To find yourself at the intersection of doing and being is to surrender to what feels natural, to allow yourself to do what looks hard to others but feels easy to you, and to meet yourself there—in your nature—with love."
What a beautiful statement. Thanks for sharing. Love your work. I've been a follower for quite some time now. :)
It's really inspiring to see you articulate this concept of surrendering to your nature so deeply and without using the cliche Alan Watts quote of finding work that's play. I also resonated a lot with the idea that you don't have to DO anything to justify your existence on this Earth and that surrendering to your nature is actually ambitious.
My favorite quote was this: "To acknowledge that doing what I feel naturally inclined towards still 'counts' as work, even if it doesn’t feel like work."
You also reminded me of two lovely quotes:
1. "When you're on the right path, you're not late." - Kevin Kelly on Paul Millerd's podcast
2. "Why should we be in such desperate haste to succeed, and in such desperate enterprises? If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." - Henry David Thoreau, Walden
I loved this — top job. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful essay. I resonated with this a lot. I actually wrote an essay with a similar texture, https://open.substack.com/pub/carterko/p/work-as-play?r=15gwd5&utm_medium=ios
Thanks for this essay. It's this world that people are scare to show themselves in social media. It's so powerful to find and proclaim your nature
