to not ask for permission and just do it is terrifying, but also exhilarating. though this may perhaps impact the stability of a society (which is probably why we are ingrained to not do things impulsively) -- but we can worry about the society later ;)
i guess the reason it doesn’t impact society all that much is because most people don’t feel comfortable doing things before someone tells *them* that they are ready. it is an act of rebellion to give yourself permission to do the thing :)
At the end of the day, it is us who make decisions for ourselves. After giving myself permission to start writing on Substack and a fiction, I don’t think anything is going to stop me from doing what I love.
